IFAPA is a public institution of research, innovation and education for agricultural and fisheries items belonging to the Andalusian Government (Junta de Andalucía, Consejería de Innovación, Ciencia y Empresa) in Spain. The President is Dr. María C. Hermosín-Gabiño and the Head of Research of IFAPA is Dr. Marcelino Bilbao-Arrese. This public research institution will represent inside this Partner 5 of Alterbromide a group of three regional public research institutions (IFAPA, IMIDA, IVIA). IMIDA (Instituto Murciano de Investigación y Desarrollo Agrario y Alimentario) belongs to the Murcia Government (Región de Murcia, Consejería de Agricultura y Agua) and IVIA (Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias) to the Valencian Government (Generalitat Valenciana, Conselleria de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación).

The main task of these three institutions is the research and dissemination of solutions about agrarian problems inside each regional area. In relation with Methyl Bromide alternatives, the three institutions are carrying out the coordination and field activities involved on the official and national project (INIA) on Alternatives to Methyl Bromide from 1997 up to nowadays. Each one of them are dealing with the main crops related with MB use at each regional area: strawberry in Andalusia and sweet pepper in Murcia and Valencia (south).
